Did you know these about the "Justice League"?

Writer: Farah Hanis

Having one or two classic superheroes such as Batman and Superman is already a cool factor, but having a team of them in a movie, well that just bump it into a must-watch. Set in the months after the events of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice", the upcoming "Justice League" follows the Dark Knight and Wonder Woman as they go on a journey to recruit a team of extraordinary heroes to defend Earth from a newly awakened enemy. Could the team of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash stop the incoming attack, or is it perhaps a little too late? Before rushing off to the cinemas to catch them in action, read on for some interesting facts about Justice League to better enjoy the movie.

Not the first superhero team in history

While Justice League has come a long way since their first appearance in "The Brave and the Bold" comic in 1960, fans might be surprised to know that they are actually not the first superhero team ever invented in history. That honour goes to the Justice Society of America, which consists of the Flash, Atom, Dr. Fate, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Hourman, Sandman and the Spectre. Debuting all the way back in 1940, the team first got together to swap old war stories, until they started getting calls from the FBI to save the world.

There were originally seven members in the Justice League

After the airing of "Justice League", many might associate the movie team as the original members, but that is not the case. The seven original Justice League are Aquaman, Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman and Wonder Woman. It wasn't until 2011 in "The New 52" reboot comic that Cyborg was established as a member of the Justice League.

The team mascot is a teenage boy with no supernatural power

It's bizarre enough that the team would even need a mascot, but did you know that the very normal Lucas "Snapper" Carl was also made the honorary eighth member of the original Justice League? Known for his finger snapping and hip dialogue, the teenage boy was also the reason why the team had to leave their secret base after he revealed the location to the Joker. The sidekick later resigned from the team – only to come back years later as a member of a spy agency, who now can teleport with (yes, you guessed it) his snaps.
