"ATM": Chinese remake vs. Thai original

Writer: Florey DM

If the story of Chinese rom-com "ATM" sounds familiar, it's because it's a remake of the hit 2012 Thai rom-com, "ATM: Er Rak Error". The remake follows couple Meng Xiaoxian and Hebi, both working in the same bank. When the bank suddenly changes its workplace policy and forbids co-workers from dating, the two must now decide who between them should quit their high-paying jobs there. To solve this, they decide that whoever can save more losses for a bank in Beartown, where the ATM has broken down, will get to keep their jobs. Let's learn a bit more about the remake and the Thai original before catching "ATM" in cinemas soon!

French-Taiwanese actress Sandrine Pinna stars as Meng Xiaoxian, the Chinese counterpart
to Preechaya Pongthananikorn's character, Jib.

Chinese actor Zhu Yawen stars as Hebi, similar to Chantavit Dhanasevi's character, Sua.

The remake doesn't change much from the original, each follows a couple of bank employees
who are in a secret relationship and uses an ATM to decide who
should quit their job so their relationship can continue.
