24 Nov – South Korea's zombie blockbuster "Train to Busan" has left fans and cast alike expecting a sequel for the past months since its debut in July.
It was speculated that a follow-up movie was in the making with either Song Joong Ki or Lee Min Ho expected to lead the cast this time around.
Director Yeon Sang-Ho has finally spoken up and straightened out the mystery, according to iTech Post.
"Because I've been asked so much about the sequel, I sometimes ask myself whether I should do it, or what kind of approach I should take, if I do," said the director.
""Train to Busan" was, however, not developed as a series to begin with, and I have no plan for its sequel for now."
With the director's confirmation, the chance that the aforementioned A-List Korean actors being up for the lead role in the predicted sequel is now fading away at this point.
Rather than another similar "Train to Busan" feature film, Yeon added that he expects to see new genres of zombie films with different tone and manner like "World War Z" and "Warm Bodies".
"Train to Busan" attracted global attention since its release this year and based on The Numbers stats, managed to amass USD99,324,672 worldwide.
