"Jailbreak" breaks out prison-themed gala premiere

21 Jan – The long-awaited Cambodian action movie, "Jailbreak", finally made its premiere yesterday, held at Legend Toul Kork.

A press conference was held at the cinema prior to the screening, where director Jimmy Henderson, producer Loy Te, and main cast Dara Our, Tharoth Sam, Savin Phillip and Sisowath Siriwudd were present to talk more on the movie.

"We're very excited to show you the movie," said Henderson, admitting that it was a challenging movie, he and his team nonetheless managed to pull it off and are ready to share it with local audiences.

After the press conference, the "Jailbreak" team headed down to the red carpet event to welcome the guests to the gala premiere. Some of the stars who attended include Pich Sophea, Chhim Sakada, Yuth Thiratha and Ma Chanpanha.

While waiting for the screening to begin, guests had the chance to try their hand at playing the yet-to-be released "Jailbreak" game, in which they get to pick one of the movie characters as their avatar and fight their way through a prison riot.

Kmeng Khmer, the popular local band who lent their talents for the movie's OST of the same name, also performed a special stage alongside the Bokator stunt crew.

"Jailbreak" is set to be released in local cinemas this 31 January, but fans can catch the movie earlier during the advance screening this weekend at Legend cinemas, Platinum Cineplex Soriya, Platinum Cineplex Siem Reap and Major Cineplex..

It will also be screened in Laos soon and is planned for releases in regional as well as international markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Phillipines, Myanmar, and the United States.
