While "Katmundu" was set in Nepal, its sequel will be set in Cambodia.

29 Mar – The famous Angkor Wat in Siem Reap has always been a popular choice among filmmakers to use as a shooting location that undoubtedly screams "Cambodia"; this time around it's getting a visit from Tollywood.

"Katmundu 2 Cambodia", a movie by award-winning Indian filmmaker Raj Chakraborty, is set to be filmed at the well-known temple complex, according to Times of India.

As the title indicates, Cambodia will feature quite prominently in the upcoming sequel.

It is reported that the storyline will center on an Indian nationalist named Netaji, whose patriotism made him the national hero. A man named Sidhu dreams of the nationalist every night, so he attempts to go to Cambodia to find the diary that contains everything related to Netaji.

Later, Sidhu's group of friends head to Cambodia to look for him, with the police also involved since it is a matter of national interest.

Angkor Wat has been the shooting location for various international productions, including the Angelina Jolie-starring "Tomb Raider", Chinese movie "In the Mood for Love" and South Korean drama "Iris".

In Tollywood (to the uninitiated, this term refers to the Bengali film industry), it is quite rare for a non-thriller film to receive a sequel, let alone a romantic comedy like "Katmundu", Chakraborty's 2015 movie that was shot in Nepal.

However, Chakraborty is all set to go ahead with the sequel, even casting his newlywed wife, actress Subhashree Ganguly, to star in it.

The sequel will see Soham Chakraborty and Rudranil Ghosh reprising their roles while Jisshu Sengupta, Tonushree Chakraborty, Soham, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Roja will be added to the cast.

"Katmundu 2 Cambodia" is eyeing a release on Diwali this year (which is around November).
