5 Jul – "In the Life of Music", a music-themed Khmer film co-directed by Sok Visal and Caylee So, has received the great honor of an invitation and nomination at the 4th Bangkok ASEAN film Festival.
The film is a tale of love, war and family infused with the timeless melody of "Champa Battambong", sung by the legendary golden voice singer Sin Sisamuth.
Aside from the Khmer title, the other selected and nominated films for the film festival areThailand's "Nen Kradote Kamphang" ("The Wall"), The Philippines's "Nervous Translation" and "The Ashes And Ghosts of Tayug 1931", Malaysia's "Guang" and "Shuttle Life", Indonesia's "Night Bus", Myanmar and Japan's "Passage of Life", Indonesia-Netherlands-Australia-Qatar's "The Seen and Unseen" and "Their Remaining Journey".
All the aforementioned movies are nominated for Best Asian Film Award, the winning film will be awarded a trophy and $10,000 (Bt330,000) while the film that snatches Best Jury Award will be awarded and a trophy and $5,000.
Bangkok ASEAN film Festival 2018 runs from 4 to 8 July at the SF World Cinema, CentralWorld, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Organised by Thailand's Ministry of Culture with the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Association, its purpose is to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the creation of ASEAN.
