30 Sep – Many Spidey fans' hearts were broken when it was revealed last month that there would be no more "Spider-Man" movies set in the MCU. However, last weekend brought a new, exciting news: the webslinger is swinging back to Marvel – again.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios released a joint statement announcing that they will be working on the third MCU-set "Spider-Man" movie together.

The new deal that the studios are discussing, which sees Disney and Marvel putting up 25% of the budget and receiving about 25% of the profits, reportedly will only involve two more MCU movies for the superhero, the first being the abovementioned third instalment and the second one has yet to be revealed.

The latest update from Deadline also stated that the deal could include more than just "Spider-Man" movies, as upcoming Sony movies like "Venom 2" and "Sinister Six" could be linked to the MCU too.

While "Spider-Man 3" doesn't have an official title yet, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is set to return as producer for the threequel that's been slotted into the Phase 4 of MCU, for release in North American cinemas on 16 July 2021.

"I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," Feige stated.

It is not known yet which Marvel villain Tom Holland's Spider-Man will fight next but the
choices are plenty now that he's back in the MCU.

"Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."

Amy Pascal, who will also be returning to produce under her Pascal Pictures banner, said this was "terrific" news and added, "Peter Parker's story took a dramatic turn in "Far From Home" and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes."

Jon Watts, who directed both the 2017 "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and this year's "Spider-Man: Far from Home", is still in talks to return for the third movie.

Tom Holland, who's so far starred in five MCU movies as the webslinger since 2016's "Captain America: Civil War", will be back to don the Spidey suit – which will presumably get progressively more high tech than the one he built (and Happy watched over proudly) in "Far from Home".
