"As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light," the Oscar-winning actor began his post, in a nod to his iconic The Dude role in "The Big Lebowski".
"I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.
"I'm profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together," he posted across his various social media platforms.
As seen above, while updating everyone of his health status, the 70-year-old still took the time to remind his fellow Americans to vote.
Lymphoma is, as per WebMD's description, cancer that begins in infection-fighting cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These cells are in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and other parts of the body.
Bridges' social media followers have been leaving him words of encouragement, one even sharing that they were diagnosed with it in high school and managed to beat it with chemo and believe that the actor would be able to do the same.
Bridges has been busy filming FX series "The Old Man", which marks his return to the small screen after 50 years. According to Deadline, when news of his diagnosis broke, FX, Touchstone Television, Hulu and FXP released a joint statement regarding it.
"Our thoughts go out to Jeff and his family during this challenging time and they have our love and support. We wish him a safe and full recovery. And, as Jeff always says, 'We are all in this together.' Jeff, we are all in this together with you."
