18 Mar – Moviegoers in Cambodia will not be able to watch movies in cinemas for the time being, as all exhibitors have closed their nationwide locations from today onwards.
The closure was made following the announcement by the Ministry of Health yesterday, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Legend Cinema, Major Cineplex, Prime Cineplex and Barayandet Cinema have all announced that they will be suspending screenings and events at their cinemas until further notice.
It was only yesterday that another country in the region, namely Malaysia, have temporarily closed its cinemas as well due to its government's 14-Day Movement Control Order.
It remains to be seen if other cinemas in the region will also be closed.
Globally, cinemas in places like the US, Britain and India have also closed their cinemas due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
