3 Aug – "Aquaman" producers recently addressed the issue of casting Amber Heard to reprise her role as Mera in the DC superhero flick, saying that...

...well, they don't really care what the Twitterverse thinks.

Peter Safran, who was asked about the online efforts to get Heard removed from the movie and replaced by Emilia Clarke, stated that they will never going to react to pure fans' pressure.

"You gotta do what's best for the movie. We felt that if it's [director] James Wan and [star] Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That's really what it was," he said. "One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter-verse, but that doesn't mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes. You have to do what's right for the film, and that's really where we landed on it."

It is noted that the call for Heard's removal did not only come from Johnny Depp's fans, but a large number of Twitter-users who were aghast by the release of the audio recording of Heard and her ex-husband's argument on the phone last year, in which the actress admitted to "hitting" Depp, who was already accused of abusing Heard.

"I'm sorry that I didn't ... hit you across the face in a proper slap, but I was hitting you, it was not punching you. Babe, you're not punched," she was heard saying to Depp in the audio, and later telling him that she can't promise to not get physical again.

The release of the recording enraged many, who believed that Depp should not be the only one who lost their big project (the actor was fired from "Fantastic Beasts") for allegedly abusing his wife.

Heard is currently filming the sequel "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" in the UK, with the movie to be released in December next year.
