15 Sep – Amid the backlash following his old interview in which he spoke about his parents' experience of living in China, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" star Simu Liu decided that the best course of action is to blame the media narrative for it.

In an Instagram Story he posted following the controversy, Liu stated that it was the western news that failed to report on the support that the "Shang-Chi" family has received from all parts of the world, including China.

"All around us, media narratives are polarising us and turning us against each other. But I have seen the kindness and the empathy that all people possess, and I know that we have fans from all over the word who cannot wait to watch our movie and make history with us," he wrote.

The actor then added that people will find whatever they seek on the internet, be it toxicity or positivity.

"Thanks to all Marvel fans in China and all around the world. We love you!"

It is noted that director Chloe Zhao was earlier slammed for making a similar statement regarding life in China, and found her movie "Nomadland" being prevented from releasing in China with the possibility of Marvel's "Eternals", which is helmed by the said director, suffering the same consequences.
