The Quiet Ones

Inspired by true events, "The Quiet Ones" tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying and evil than they ever could have imagined.

Watch this if you liked: "The Woman In Black" & "The Uninvited"

The Good, the Bad and the Scary: Along the veins of "The Woman In Black", this movie has a 70s retro feel that further enhances the whole old-school horror film feel. However it tries to blend the usage of psycological science to explain the supernatural, but only we've seen the same formula repeated many a times. Also, how many times have we seen the 'inspired by actual events" tagline in the opening credits? Sam Clafin is just an eye-candy here as Jared Harris as the professor and Olivia Cooke as the disturbed girl are the real scene stealers to watch. "The Conjuring" and "Oculus" are horror films more scary than "The Quiet Ones".

Look Out For: Loud noises, a few bumps here and there, but nothing arresting you should keep eyes peeled for.

Trivia: British actress Olivia Cooke stars in the thriller TV Series "Bates Motel" with "The Conjuring" actress Vera Farmiga.

Best Watched With: Friends and family on one of those lazy days.
